European Chicken Commitment

In addition to our existing range, from 18 November 2025 we will also be offering dishes made with chicken from the European Chicken Commitment.

During the last two weeks of November, all our canteens (except Göppingen, Horb, and the Art Academy cafeteria) will be serving chicken dishes from Tuesday to Thursday using meat that meets the requirements of the European Chicken Commitment:

  • November 18 to 20:
Chicken steak with ratatouille vegetables and rosemary potatoes for €7.90 (student price) / €10.40 (guest price)
  • November 25 to 27:
Corn-fed chicken wings with paprika rice and herb quark for €5.40 (student price) / €7.90 (guest price)

You can recognize the dishes by our new icon, which shows a chicken with a green leaf.

What is the European Chicken Commitment?
European Chicken Commitment is a coalition of around 30 animal welfare organizations with the primary goal of significantly improving animal welfare standards in chicken farming - an important step toward greater animal welfare.

The Studierendenwerk Stuttgart is part of the European Chicken Commitment. We publish annual reports on the progress of implementation and have independent audits carried out to ensure compliance with the standards.
