Social Counselling

Do you need advice on personal, social or financial issues? Then our social counselling service can give you some valuable tips and answers. Our social worker Ronald Friedrich can often help you even before problems arise. But even in difficult situations, he is happy to be your first point of contact and can offer you help in your search for solutions. You can arrange an appointment for a consultation by telephone or by e-mail. The counselling is, of course, absolutely confidential and free of charge for students.

Besides general counselling, you can come to us for advice on the following topics:

  • Questions about the financing of your studies
  • Questions about work and study
  • Support for international students
  • Help in emergencies
  • Questions about pregnancy and studying with a child
  • Support for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses

ATTENTION: You can currently reach our social counsellor by telephone from Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and by e-mail.

For technical reasons, you will unfortunately hear a dial tone even if the line is busy. Please try again later if nobody answers the phone after a long ringing time.

If you have questions concerning BAföG, please contact the Amt für Ausbildungsförderung.

New: video consulting

In order to continue to be there for you personally during the contact restriction, the social counselling service offers video counselling. Our social counsellor uses the RED medical video tool, which conforms to data protection regulations and is recommended by the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians.

Please arrange a consultation appointment in advance. You can reach the team from Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., on Friday 9 a.m. to 12 noon under +49 711 / 95 74-463 or +49 711 / 95 74-477 as well as by e-mail.

For us, a video consultation in accordance with data protection laws is essential. Therefore, we require a signed declaration of consent from you after the appointment and before the interview.

Please send us the completed and signed form by mail to Studierendenwerk Stuttgart, Sozialberatung, Ms Helga Kessler or Mr Roland Friedrich personally, Rosenbergstraße 18, 70174 Stuttgart

Procedure of video consultation

Once the declaration of consent has been completed and signed, the video consultation can be carried out by our social counsellors.

For the video consultations, please call up the Website of the Videotools RED Medical in your browser at the agreed date. It is best to use Safari, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Now enter your name for the video consultation. This is only visible to the consultant. Then please enter the access code that you were given when you made your appointment.

Which technical requirements you need for the video tool as well as important information on data protection can be found in the FAQ des Videotools RED Medical.
